Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Jervis Public Library! The library has a variety of tasks that can be done by qualified, trained volunteers. Except on special themed occasions, certified, trained, credentialed librarians and/or teachers run the library's regular story times.
Children who want to volunteer
In most cases, children who wish to volunteer must be accompanied by an adult. Please contact the Assistant Director to inquire about available volunteer opportunities for children.
Teens who want to volunteer
To accommodate teens looking for community service hours, the Librarian for Services to Teens holds an open volunteer session with a variety of tasks to choose from on an average of once a month. This is especially for teens who are interested in volunteering for a set number of hours to satisfy requirements. A teen who wants to make more of a commitment or volunteer on a different day can stop at the Information Desk to talk to the Librarian.
Adults who want to volunteer
The Assistant Director and Librarian for Adult Engagement are responsible for the adult volunteer program. Orientations for adults are generally done two to three times per year depending on staff availability. In especially busy times, there may be a delay in our response to your application. We want to assure that we have projects and tasks ready for you to choose from before we hold an orientation rather than having you come in excited to assist and finding that we are not ready for you.
Groups who want to volunteer
Please talk to the person responsible for volunteers in your group's age group. If the group is of mixed ages, please contact the Assistant Director.
