- 2002-2003 Career Guide to Industries describes industries, the working conditions, and the careers available in them. From the US Department of Labor
- America's Career Info Net provides "wage and employment trends, occupational requirements, state-by-state labor market conditions, millions of employer contacts nationwide, and the most extensive career resource library online."
- Career Zone was developed jointly by the NYS Department of Labor and the eXploring careers web group at Cornell. Its features include links to current job listings in America's Job Bank, a basic career exploration "test" based upon interests input, and a fothcoming "My Portfolio" section.
- Facts on Working Women's Hot Jobs Until the Year 2005
- Mapping Your Future offers an interesting interest inventory and then suggests possible careers. This is available in English and Spanish.
- Occupational Outlook Handbook 2006-2007 edition provides detailed information including education required and projected employment outlook for job titles; searchable by keyword.
- America's Best Colleges 2006 from US News & World Report.
- Campus Program is searchable by academic program in a particular state. Choose the program and the state and receive a list of colleges with links to the programs' web pages.
- College & University Rankings and Guides to Selecting a School is an informative sheet prepared by the Meriam Library at California State University at Chico, CA. This is worth a look to prepare you to look critically at college rankings in the news.
- College Board Online includes online registration for the SATs as well as information about college admissions and college choice.
- Educational Testing Service provides a host of information as well as links to school's websites, financial aid information, and frequently asked questions.
- Embark.com is a relatively new commercial site requiring registration and providing services for free and for a fee. They were formerly known as College Edge. Its features are not yet honed, but it does have some useful working features. (For example, a matchmaker search may result in no matches and the online application availablility of a college is not necessarily accurate.) Take a look and decide if it has something for you.
- New York's Private Colleges and Universities provides links to school information including open house dates and financial aid information.
- NY Mentor allows you to explore New York Colleges and plan for college including applying online.
- NYSSA (NY State Summer School in the Arts) provides intense summer study of arts with prominent members of the field.
- Peterson's Online is a comprehensive site requiring free registration for services such as its College Quest, a search to match the student with a school.
- Private Schools in New York, a list provided by Yahoo!
- Public Schools in New York, a list provided by Yahoo! The list looks short, but most schools are listed under the link for SUNY schools.
- Quintessential Careers College Planning Resources for Teens.
- Summer on Campus gives a guide to New York State schools' summer programs for kids ages 8-18. It could be useful not only for the college bound junior or senior, but for others as well.
- US News College provides a database of schools searchable by category as well as other information about costs, careers, and financial aid.
